Ingredients:
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1 1/4 cups warm water
- 2 tbsp. olive oil
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
- 1 tsp dried herbs (optional, such as oregano or thyme)
Instructions:
- Activate the Yeast:
- In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy. - Prepare the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. - Add Cheese:
- Flatten the dough and sprinkle the shredded cheese, grated Parmesan, garlic powder, and dried herbs evenly over it. Fold the dough over the cheese and knead gently to incorporate. - First Rise:
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours or until it has doubled in size. - Shape the Dough:
- Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased loaf pan or on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. - Second Rise:
- Cover the loaf and let it rise again for about 30-45 minutes. - Bake:
