Ingredients:
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- Sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions:
- Activate the Yeast:
- In a small bowl, combine the warm water, warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- First Rise:
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours or until it has doubled in size.
- Shape the Buns:
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 8-10 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Flatten each ball slightly.
- Second Rise:
- Cover the buns with a damp cloth and let them rise again for about 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake the Buns:
- If desired, brush the tops of the buns with a little water and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes or until the buns are golden brown.
- Cool and Serve:
- Allow the buns to cool on a wire rack before serving. Enjoy your freshly baked burger buns!
